What is a water meter?
A water meter (or flow meter) is a measuring instrument used in water treatment facilities to accurately measure water flow in cubic meters. It measures how much construction site wastewater flows through and is treated in the facility.
There are both mechanical and electronic water meters.
Why is such a water meter needed?
The CO₂ requirement depends on the volume of water flowing through the system. If a large amount of wastewater suddenly flows through the system (e.g., during heavy rain or intensive concrete pouring), the CO₂ supply must be increased. With an electronic water meter, thisCO₂ supply can even be controlled automatically.
Analog versus Digital Water Meters
Analog (mechanical) water meter
Simple and proven: A mechanical KMS-80-MID water meter displays the volume of water consumed directly on the meter. The value is read manually from the display —ideal if there is no power connection or for small construction sites without digital infrastructure.
We often use this in combination with a RUBAG neutralization kit.
Automatic control of the system to prevent overload is not possible.
Digital (electronic) water meter
The DN 80 digital water meter is available as an add-on module for the automatic RUBAG neutralization system. In combination with the RUBAG LTE module, the water flow is electronically monitored via the neutralization system with remote monitoring, displayed online, logged, and supervised. Manual on-site readings are no longer necessary.
The recorded water volumes simplify documentation and can be used, for example, to provide evidence to authorities or to optimize water treatment.
Major advantage
Logging and protection against system overload: The digital water meter does more than just measure. It enables automatic monitoring and control of the neutralization system. If the water flow is too high, the system can react and, for example, activate a shut-off valve. This reliably protects the system from overload.
